The Gallery at Market Place Tavern and Bar

Art Tripping was founded in 2018 to create community art experiences and develop educational programs that nourish creativity. As a nonprofit, we aim to be a significant catalyst for community development, bringing people of various economic and social strata together to develop, inspire, and understand the unlimited possibilities that experiencing all art brings to our world.

A couple of years ago, a member of Litchfield Sustainability asked me to work with the Board of Selectmen to establish an arts council to create more public art. Today, I am proud to be a part of the newly established Litchfield Arts Council, which alongside Art Tripping, will continue to fulfill the cultural piece that sustains and invigorates a community.

Art Tripping's latest opportunity for community art experiences is in collaboration with the Market Place Tavern. We will feature a new local artist in the Gallery Room every six weeks, complemented by an opening event to draw in the community for a night of art, food, and good conversation.

The banquet room will be transformed into a gallery.

With this latest collaboration, the center of Litchfield can now claim to have numerous art venues, including the Jennifer Terzian Gallery, the Alofft Gallery, Jeffrey Tillou Antiques, the Litchfield History Museum, The Oliver Wolcott Library, and the Market Place Tavern.

The Marketplace Tavern initiative is just one of Art Tripping’s upcoming projects.

  • On June 10th, come to the Litchfield Makers Market on the Green and witness the artistic buzz while people gear up for the annual Road Race.

  • Stay tuned for an installation date of Alebrijes, a folk art mural of ancient Mexican Spirit Animals, inside @ The Corner Taco Bar. This twenty-foot mural was completed by the students of Litchfield High School's AP Spanish class as an interdisciplinary lesson under my guidance.

  • October 6 - 8, Art Tripping will be building a Makerspace at the Blackbear Americana Music Festival on the Goshen Fairgrounds.

There are many artistic collaborations on the horizon for the town of Litchfield. Between Art Tripping, my community volunteer assignments, and now teaching art at the Litchfield High School, I hope to facilitate more school, and private projects!
