Art Tripping Salon

The last time we had a pop-up…

A Pre-Covid Pop-Up, before we knew what was about to happen….it was February of 2020, and a fabulous art party was about to take place at Silver Sun Studios, the studio of John Kane, principal photographer of Pilobolus. We called it a Salon, comme en Paris!

Art Tripping was about to launch the grooviest pop-up to date. John’s barn/studio was a dream. All wood, some beams, three levels, step down into the big open room with a high ceiling, funky furniture, good light, farmland views… it was easy to work with this space.

Along with Lisa and me, two out of three of the original Art Trippers, we got a great deal of help from our daughters; Lisa’s four girls Emma, Molly, Lydia, Clara, and my daughter Meredith.

Lovely tidbits to graze with wine, music, poetry, and art; great conversations, a collaborative painting station, and the energy of the guests, it was a wonderful event and we began to talk about ideas for another salon in the spring/summer.

But then, by the end of February, it became clear that we were about to enter a time of distancing and isolating. We just didn’t realize how long it was about to last.

It was lovely to reminisce about our Salon at Silver Sun Studio, and it reinvigorates me to think of the possibilities for the future.
